This training provides Mental Health Providers, Medical Professionals, Educators, and Community Providers with culturally responsive strategies for using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with Latino communities experiencing depression, suicidality, trauma, and anxiety. Participants will learn evidence-based interventions that promote psychological flexibility, resilience, and values-based living while gaining a deeper understanding of how cultural values, family dynamics, stigma, immigration experiences, spirituality, and discrimination can impact mental health and treatment engagement within Latino populations. Through practical applications and interactive learning, attendees will strengthen their clinical skills, cultural awareness, and confidence in supporting Latino clients in compassionate, effective, and culturally sensitive ways.

Dr. Cristina Bautista, Psy. D, LMFT
Dr. Cristina Bautista is a therapist, educator, author, speaker, and entrepreneur with over 14 years of experience serving children, adolescents, couples, and families. Holding a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Doctorate in Psychology, she specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, substance use, and culturally responsive care for Latino communities. Dr. Bautista is the founder of the Spanish for Therapist Institute, where she teaches therapeutic Spanish and cultural awareness to mental health professionals, and she facilitates study abroad trainings throughout Latin America. She is also the co-author of a mental health reference manual, host of the Let’s Talk About Therapy podcast, and founder of Let’s Talk About Therapy, LLC, an organization dedicated to helping therapists build successful practices through training, consultation, and business support services. Through her workshops, lectures, advocacy efforts, and community outreach, Dr. Bautista is committed to expanding access to culturally responsive mental health care, reducing stigma, and empowering professionals to better serve diverse communities. Proceeds from her work support nonprofit initiatives aimed at building counseling centers throughout Latin America.
Dr. Michelle Jackson, Ph.D.
Dr. Michelle Jackson holds a PhD in Leadership and brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education, having served in roles including admissions, academic advising, campus director, and assistant vice president of student affairs. Her expertise spans diversity, equity, and inclusion, student conduct, international student services, accessibility services, and student support programs. Throughout her career, Dr. Jackson has been dedicated to helping individuals achieve their academic and personal goals while guiding leadership teams in creating inclusive environments where all students feel supported and valued. She is also actively involved in community service, collaborating with K–12 schools and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and restorative justice practices. Through her leadership experience and commitment to fostering belonging and success, Dr. Jackson continues to make a meaningful impact in education and the communities she serves.
